Police in Kogi State have confirmed the killing of a suspected criminal gang leader, Kabiru Bala at Ejule in Ofu Local Government Area of the state.
Police Commissioner, Akeem Yusuf who briefed journalists at the command’s headquarters in Lokoja said the suspect was killed during a gun battle with a joint security operatives who were out to arrest him after the state government revoked the clemency granted him by the Kogi State Governor in 2018 when Kabiru Bala also known as Okwo was jailed for a series of crimes.
The Commissioner said the clemency was revoked following some criminal allegations traced to Bala
The police boss says some weapons were recovered from him.

In a swift reaction, the Igala Cultural Development Association, ICDA in a statement by its president, Abubakar Sadiq and a senior advocate of Nigeria, J.S Okutepa in two separate statements, described the killing of Bala Kabiru as senseless and politically motivated.
The Police say they are on the manhunt for other alleged members of Bala’s alleged criminal gang.
