As part of their Community Development Service project, some corps members serving in the Funtua Local Government Area of Katsina State have donated some items to the inmates of the Funtua Correctional Centre.

The Katsina State coordinator of the National Youths Service Corps, Aisha Muhammed, hinted that the items donated are to put smiles on the inmate’s faces and assure them that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

In a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the scheme, Alex Obemeata said that Corps members should always find out the needs of every community, be it school, prison or even the host community and profer solutions.

Represented by the Funtua Local Government Inspector of the scheme, Yusuf Nadada, the State Coordinator commended the corps members for the gesture and urged others to emulate it.

Receiving the donations, the Assistant Comptroller in charge of the Centre, Abdurashid Sule, appreciated the Corps members and the NYSC for the laudable Community Development Service, saying that the visit was the first of its kind since the inception of the centre.

He also requested the NYSC Legal Aids Scheme to always come around to assist inmates awaiting trials in the centre.
