Corruption Allegation: Court Fixes Nov 20 to hear Case against Ganduje

A Kano State High Court on Wednesday, fixed November 20, 2024 to hear all pending applications in the ongoing case of alleged bribery and misappropriation of fund running into billions of naira against the National Chairman of All Progressive Congress, Abdullahi Ganduje and seven others.

Ganduje, alongside his wife, Hafsat Umar, Abubakar Bawuro, Umar Abdullahi Umar, Jibrilla Muhammad, Lamash Properties Limited, Safari Textiles Limited and Lasage General Enterprises Limited are charged with eight counts of bribery, misappropriation and diverting public funds.

The state government instituted an eight-count charge bordering on bribery allegations, Misappropriation and division of public funds running into billions of Niara against the defendants.

When the case came up for hearing on Wednesday, counsel to the plaintiff, Adeola Adedipe, SAN, told the court that they were ready to proceed.

However, Rabiu, Counsel to the 1st, 2nd and 4th defendants, Offiong Offiong, SAN, told the court that they have not been served the preliminary objection and the plaintiff’s counter affidavit.

Counsel to the 3rd and 7th defendants, Taye Falola, informed the court that they have not been served also with the applications and Counter affidavit.

Counsel to the 6th respondent, Nureini Jimoh, SAN, informed the court that he filed a notice of preliminary objection since July 9, indicating their readiness to proceed and move the application

On the other hand, Counsel to the 5th and 8th defendants, Abdul Adamu SAN, and Faruk Asekome, said they have not been served with the preliminary objection as well as a counter affidavit.

After listening to the lawyers representing all parties, Justice Amina Adamu Aliyu said service of processes is very important and overruled the plaintiff’s application.

She therefore adjourned the matter to November 20, 2024 for hearing of all pending applications in the suit.
