The Ewi-Ewi of Ado Ekiti, Oba Ruphus Adeyemo Adejugbe Aladesanmi III has frowned at the high prices of food commodities in Ekiti State with a promise to look into the issue and find ways to reducing them.
The monarch while expressing his concerns over the development said his observation is hinged on what he said is the exploitative nature of traders who now sell farm produce at very high prices in the state capital beyond the reach of the average citizen.
Displeased by the skyrocketing prices of food items in Ado Ekiti, the traditional council of the town in conjunction with market women union have commenced a forceful reduction in the prices of some food commodities in major markets.

The task force who led the price reduction enforcement exercise accused traders of selling at exorbitant prices on the excuse of the appreciation of the United States Dollar.
For some of the residents, the approach by the monarch will help to bring down the prices of commodities in the state capital.
In recent weeks, prices of foodstuffs such as garri, cassava flour, palm oil and other farm produce have been on the high side making them out of reach of majority of citizens .
