Chairman of Buruku Local Government Area of Benue State, Daniel Deajir has reportedly died of Covid-19 related complications.
Deajir who died on Thursday night was said to have been quarantined at the Federal Medical Centre Makurdi for about 10 days before his demise.
A statement by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase confirmed the incident and described his sudden demise as quite shocking and a blow to the entire State.
Governor Samuel Ortom noted his diligent stewardship in the local government area before his sudden death.
Meanwhile, his deputy, Andrew Iorver was immediately sworn-in by the State Deputy Governor, Benson Abounu as the substantive Chairman of the Council. Iorver is expected to nominate a new Deputy Chairman whose appointment will have to be confirmed by the Local Government Legislative Council.

Deajir served for only 7 months after he was elected as Executive Chairman of Buruku Local Government Council.
