The Federal Capital Territory High Court, in Maitama, has adjourned the trial of the former Minister of Aviation, Hardi Sirika and his brother, Ahmad Sirika to May 29.
The trial commenced on Monday with the prosecuting counsel, Rotimi Jacobs (SAN), calling his first witness, Musa Odinya, a retired civil servant, who was a Director of Procurement at the Ministry of Aviation, and giving a rundown on how contracts are awarded in the ministry.
However, the case was adjourned to Wednesday, after the prosecution counsel applied for an adjournment, to enable him to attend the funeral of the late Ibrahim Lamorde.
The former Minister of Aviation, Hadi Abubakar Sirika, his brother Ahmad Abubakar Sirika and two companies, Enginos Nigeria Limited and Samahah Integrated Investment Limited, were, on Thursday, May 23, arraigned by the Abuja Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, before Justice S.B. Belgore of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, High Court Garki.
They were arraigned on an amended 10-count charge, bordering on contract fraud, to the tune of Five Billion, Eight Hundred and Two Million, Two Hundred and Fifty Four Thousand, Five Hundred and Seventy Three Naira, Fifty Five Kobo.
