A Federal High Court sitting in Makurdi has restrained Benue State Local Government Election Petition Tribunal from sitting at the NBA House Abuja or any other venue outside the state.
The Attorney General of the State, the State Independent Electoral Commission, BSIEC and 24 others filed the suit.
The presiding judge RK Egbe held that any plan to hold the tribunal at any other venue outside Benue State should be suspended pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.
The court order is part of ongoing standoff between the State Government and the State Chief Judge, Maurice Ikpambwese.

Recall that Ikpambwese directed the relocation of the tribunal to NBA House Abuja over the deteriorating security situation at the Makurdi High Court complex after his purported removal by the State House of Assembly.
The State Government later denied any knowledge of the said relocation.
