A Kano State High Court has convicted the mastermind behind the abduction and kidnapping of the Kano nine children, Paul Oneh, who pleaded guilty to the charges.

The trial judge, justice Zuwaira Yusif, found Paul Oneh guilty of the 24- count- charge out of the 40 charges levelled against him.

Friday 12th of March was slated for re-arraignment of the suspected abductor and Kidnapper of Kano nine children for fair hearing as requested by the counsel of first and second defendants.

The first defendant Oneh pleaded guilty to all the 38 count charges levelled against him during his first arrangement.

Also on Friday Oneh pleaded guilty even when two more charges were added to the charges.

The trial judge, before convicting him also read out the charges punishable under sections 273 and 277 of the Kano administration of criminal justice law. However, Oneh still pleaded guilty and admitted he committed the offense.

The state counsel then asked the court to convict him and sentence him immediately as the case falls under Kano penal code which means it is still not a capital offence.

Counsel to the first defendant, James Obi said he is not happy his client is convicted as according to him the trial procedure is wrong .

Attorney General of Kano State, Musa Lawal, said the conviction is a victory to Kano people and rule of law in the state and will also serve as warning to those involved in such criminal act .

Justice Yusif adjourned the matter to the 26th of March for the sentencing and bail application of the other six defendants.
