The Federal Capital Territory High Court has granted the immediate past Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele’s request to travel out of the Federal Capital Territory.
Justice Hamza Muazu in a brief ruling however said Emefiele must remain in the country, as his trial is on going.
Emefiele had earlier requested for a variation of the terms in his bail conditions.
Counsel to the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, Rotimi Oyedepo, did not object to the application made by Enefiele’s lawyer, Mathew Bukar.
He told the court to ensure that Emefiele writes an undertaking that he will remain in the country if his plea is granted.
The charge against the former Governor of the CBN, was also amended from 6 counts to 20.
The amended charges now includes criminal breach of trust, forgery, conspiracy to commit forgery, procurement fraud and conspiracy to commit felony
