A Federal High Court sitting in Kano, has vacated an interim injunction order earlier granted, restraining Kano Government from borrowing N10b loan.
The suit which was filed by a coalition of Non-Governmental Organisations, Kano First Forum, (KFF), had Kano State Governor, Attorney General of Kano State, Commissioner for Finance Kano, Speaker, Kano State House of Assembly, Federal Ministry of Finance, Debt Management Office and Fiscal Responsibility Commission as respondents
Justice Abdullahi Liman, on July 1, restrained the Kano State Government from borrowing N10 billion for the installation of Closed-Circuit Television, (CCTV) cameras, with the parties asked to maintain the status quo.
While ruling on the matter, the presiding Judge vacated the order, on the basis that the applicant misled the court, by concealing the fact that the state government got approval from the State Assembly.
He, however, said parties in the suit can proceed with the argument of the substantive suit.
Counsel to Plaintiff, Badamasi Suleiman maintained that the court has not approved the loan to be borrowed by the state government.
He said the matter is still under litigation.
Counsel to the Respondents, Musa Mohammed, said the government needed to borrow the loan, due to the rising security challenges, ranging from banditry and kidnapping in the country.
The presiding judge, transferred the case to the Vacation Judge at Federal Capital Territory, as the Federal High Court will commence its annual vacation on July 22.
