The Federal High Court Abuja has ordered the Director-General of the Department of State Services, DSS to produce 12 of Sunday Ighoho’s aides before it on the next adjourned date of July 29.

Justice Obiora Egwatu also ordered that the DSS boss and the other respondent in the matter appear in court to show cause why Igboho’s aides should not be admitted to bail conditionally or unconditionally.

Justice Egwuatu gave the order on Friday in a ruling on an exparte application filed and argued by Pelumi Olajemgbesi on behalf of the detainees.

Justice Egwuatu’s decision was predicated on the argument by Olajemgbesi that the 12 aides of Igboho have been arrested and held incommunicado in an underground cell since July 2.

The court gave the ruling, taking into consideration the provisions of sections 35, and 36 of the 1999 Constitution as well as section 32 of the Administration of Criminal Justice System Act and saw the need to interfere in the matter.

The applicants in the matter are Abdulateef Ofeyagbe, Amoda Babatunde, Tajudeen Erinoyen, Diakola Ademola, Abideen Shittu, Jamiu Noah, and Ayobami Donald.

Others are Adelabe Usman, Oluwapelumi Kunle, Raji Kazeem, Taiwo Opeyemi and Bamidele Sunday.

The two respondents in the matter are DSS Director-General and the State Security Services.

Justice Egwuatu subsequently ordered parties in the matter to appear before him unfailingly on July 29.

The residence of the Yoruba Nation separatist, Sunday Igboho in Ibadan was evaded by the DSS on July 1 leaving 2 people dead while few of his aides were whisked away.

The 12 aides have been in custody of the DSS since then, without access to their family members or legal representatives.
