An Imo State High Court sitting in Owerri has ordered the interim forfeiture of all properties allegedly acquired illegally by a former Governor of the State, Rochas Okorocha while in office.

The order followed an application brought by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Louis Alozie.

Joined as parties to the application are Okorocha’s wife, Nkechi Okorocha, Incorporated Trustees of Rochas Foundation and the serving Senator himself.

The properties listed include the Eastern Palm University, Ogboko; Royal Spring Palm Hotels and Apartments; IBC Staff Quarters said to have been converted to the Rochas Foundation College, Owerri Magistrate Quarters, Cooperative Office and Girls Guide converted to private use.

Others are Kilimanjaro eatery; public building plot B/2 Otamiri South Extension Layout that was occupied by the Ministry of Women Affairs as Skills Acquisition Centre but converted to the benefit of Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha.

The application is relying on a white paper issued by the State government pursuant to a Judicial Commission of Inquiry report on the dealings of the Okorocha administration.

The court action is the latest in a bid to strip Okorocha of assets allegedly acquired illegally while in government.

Last Sunday, he was arrested for attempting to reopen the Royal Palm Spring Hotels and Apartments after it was sealed by the State government.
