A magistrate court sitting in Asaba the Delta state capital, has ordered the remand of a dismissed police Inspector Ubi Ebri, at the Ugwashi Uku correctional center, in Aniocha south local government area, over the alleged murder of one Oyenka Ibe, while on stop and search duty along Ugbolu -Illah road, on the 5th of April 2023.
The former police Inspector was arraigned, Wednesday following his dismissal from the force and the conclusion of the orderly room trial at the command.
The court ordered that the suspect be remanded while the case file be sent to director of Public Prosecution, DPP, for legal advice and prosecution of the suspect by the office of the DPP.
The command in a statement issued and signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe tasked all its officers and men to uphold the tenets of professional policing in the discharge of their duties with respect to fundamental human rights of all citizens while hoping that this will serve as a deterrent to other officers.
