A High Court in Kano has remanded 10 suspects including an 82-year-old woman in a correctional centre for kidnapping a 2-year-old boy Aliyu Dauda.
Six underage suspects were however taken into custody at the children’s home.
The charges leveled against the 10 suspects include abduction and kidnapping both punishable offence under section 97 and 222 of the penal code.
The defenders pleaded not guilty to all the charges read out to them.
State counsel, Tijjani Ibrahim, said he will present five witnesses at the next sitting.
Counsel to the 9th and 10th defendants, Magaji Mato, said the remand order was fine but he will file a bail application for his clients
Justice Dije Aboki remanded the adult defendants in a correctional service facility while children home Will take custody of the underage suspects.
The trial judge said the court decided to remand the defenders because the first, second, and eighth defendants were absent during the arraignment for no reason.

The case was adjourned to 4th of December 2020 for continuation.
