National Industrial Court of Nigeria Abuja has halted the planned nationwide strike by resident doctors.

Justice E.D. Subilim issued an interim order restraining the National Association of Resident Doctors, NARD, from embarking on any form of industrial action scheduled to begin on Monday, January 12, 2026.

In a ruling delivered on Friday, the court barred all members and agents of the National Association of Resident Doctors from calling, directing, organising, or participating in any industrial action.

Justice Subilim also restrained the Doctors from taking any preparatory steps toward industrial action, pending the hearing and determination of a motion on notice.

The suit was filed by the Attorney-General of the Federation on behalf of the Federal Government against the National Association of Resident Doctors, its President, Mohammed Suleiman, and one Shuaibu Ibrahim.

The court said it had carefully considered the application and was satisfied that the case warranted the grant of an interim injunction.

It consequently ordered NARD, its members, agents, and anyone acting on its behalf to refrain from embarking on or preparing for any form of industrial action from January 12, 2026, pending the hearing of the motion on notice.

The court further directed that the defendants be served with the order within seven days and granted them liberty to apply to vary or discharge the order within the same period after service
