A Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed February 5, 2021, for hearing in the suit filed by six civil society organizations challenging the exclusion and alleged marginalization of women in the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The suit is filed by the Incorporated Trustees of Nigeria Women Trust Fund, Women Empowerment Legal Aid, Centre for Democracy and Development West Africa, and others against the Federal Government and the Attorney General of the Federation.
The Plaintiffs are requesting the court to determine whether the refusal of the 1st Defendant to implement the 35% affirmative action policy of the Federal Government of Nigeria is not an arbitrary violation of the National Gender policy.

They also want the court to determine whether the predominant appointment of the male gender into decision making positions of the Federation is not wrong, unlawful, unconstitutional and a violation of the 1999 Constitution as amended and African Charter of Human and Peoples Rights and does not violate the right of the female gender of equal access to public office.
