Cross River State Government has taken delivery of fifty-eight thousand, eight hundred and forty (58,840) doses of AstraZeneca/Oxford COVID-19 vaccine donated to the state by the Federal Government.
The State Chairman of Covid-19 Taskforce Team, and Commissioner for Health,Dr Betta Edu received the vaccines on behalf of Governor Ben Ayade at the Magret Ekpo International Airport, Calabar.
Betta who was joined by the Director-General of the Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Janet Ekpeyong said, the vaccine will be administered in phases, starting with the frontline health workers, opinion leaders, religious leaders as well as members of the public.

The Director General of the primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Janet Ekpeyong on her part said, the viccine will help to mitigate the effects of the dreaded Covid-19 pandemic in Cross River State.
In attendance at the Margret Ekpo International Airport, Calabar to receive the vaccines were,the Speaker of the Cross River State House Of Assembly Rt. Hon. Eteng Williams, WHO and UNICEF Officials as well as subheads of Health Clusters in the State.
