In the wake of growing cases of the Delta variant of COVID-19 infection in some parts of the country, Edo state is not relenting in its effort to ensure that the right mechanisms are being put in place to deal with a possible outbreak in the state.

This was made known by Governor Godwin Obaseki when he went on an assessment tour of the treatment and isolation centre at the Stella Obasanjo Hospital and ongoing reconstruction work at the State School of Nursing and Midwifery in Benin City.

Recently some states in Nigeria were said to have recorded cases of the easily transmissible delta variant of COVID-19.
In light of this, Governor Godwin Obaseki accompanied by Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu, Secretary to State Government, Osarodion Ogie and health officials were at the Stella Obasanjo hospital which houses one of the treatment and isolation Centres in the State to ascertain the readiness of the facilities.
From there, they proceeded to the State School of Nursing and Midwifery currently undergoing reconstruction.
The Governor is optimistic that the school will be taking off September this year.
He says the accreditation team has visited and were quite satisfied with what they saw.
They will be coming for a final assessment just before the school resumes.
