Health workers under the auspices of the medical and health workers union of Nigeria want the Nigerian government to pay all outstanding allowances to keep motivating the frontline workers.
The workers made the demand in Abuja during the ninth delegates conference of the Federal Capital Territory Council of the Union.
They also used the opportunity to appeal to the Federal Capital Territory administration to implement the consolidated health salary structure in all ministries, agencies, and departments.

The Federal Government paid three months special hazard allowance to frontline health workers last year at the outbreak of the virus.
The workers say with the second wave of the pandemic gathering momentum, the government needs to encourage health workers with the payment of outstanding allowances and the provision of other essentials required to handle the current situation
