The Katsina Emirate Council has intimated the State government of its resolution to cancel all celebrations during the upcoming Eid-el Kabir Sallah festival.
These annual celebrations include the popular ‘hawan bariki ” a royal visit of the Emir to the state governor ” as well as the colorful durbar parade.
This is contained in a letter addressed to the Secretary to the State government and signed by the Secretary, Katsina Emirate Council, Mamman Ifo, and obtained by AIT.
According to the letter, the cancelation of the festivities is due to double carnage of insecurity and Covid-19 affecting the state.
However, the emirate council while felicitating with the Muslim faithful, called on them to use the celebration to intensify prayers for the speedy and quick return of normalcy in the land.
No statement has been issued on whether or not the 2 unit prayers will be conducted across the state at the usual prayer grounds as at the time of filing this report.
