The Presidential Tasksforce on Covid-19 is expected to brief President Muhammadu Buhari and update the nation on the possible new direction in the fight against the disease.

This is as the 4 weeks of the extension of the 2nd phase of the eased lockdown lapses 12 midnight on Monday.

Nigeria imposed its first round of lockdown in Late March and on the 27th of April, President Buhari announced the gradual easing of a five-week-lockdown in the Federal Capital Territory (FTC), Lagos and Ogun State.

The lockdown was ease to a nationwide curfew from 8pm to 6am from May 4 to May 17.

The curfew was later reviewed by many state governments to start from 10pm.

The first phase of the relaxed lockdown was extended by two weeks and elapsed midnight June 1.

It’s not clear what the outcome of the meeting between the PTF and the President will be-whether or not there will be an extension of the current phase or maybe a full reopening of the economy.
