Crime Fighting: Police Hold Conference With Stakeholders,Tactical Commanders In Kogi

The Kogi State Police Command has charged its men and officers to adopt comprehensive crime prevention and control strategies to contain activities of criminal elements in the State.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, kogi State Police Command, SP WILLIAM OVYE AYA, the state commissioner of police, CP Miller Dantawaye, gave the charge during a strategic conference with senior officers, Operational and Tactical Commanders in lokoja that featured enlightening lectures designed to enhance mental health and operational capacity for efficient performance.

The Kogi state police commissioner, CP Miller Dantawaye, described the lectures as transformational, urging senior officers to pass on the knowledge within their respective Divisions. He further stated that mental wellness is as critical as physical fitness in modern-policing.

He also urged all the DPOs under his command to intensify proactive crime prevention patrol as well as intelligence gathering through effective collaboration with critical stakeholders in their respective area of responsibilities.

The CP reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to fostering welfare-driven leadership within the Kogi State Police Command and maintaining strong collaboration with civic and humanitarian organizations.

In a Lecture, a seasoned Psychologist, NPF MicroFinance Bank, National Blood Transfusion Service, Dr Ehiz cited real-life instances of suicide, emotional collapse, and substance abuse among others. Emphasizing conditions such as PTSD, depression, and anxiety.

She recommended a proactive mental health practices such as Psychological First Aid, emotional check-ins, and physical fitness among others. Stressing that our life and stability matters.

The Branch Manager, NPF MicroFinance Bank, Olusegun delivered lecture on several financial products including the Police After Service Account (PASA), aimed at helping officers transition into post-service business life.

The President, Rotary Club International, Kogi State Chapter highlighted the Organisation’s commitment to community service and commended the Commissioner of Police, CP Miller Dantawaye, for being “an identified, active member and major donor” to Rotary’s Humanitarian efforts.

The conference, also featured series of capacity building among officers that focused on addressing often-overlooked aspects of their professional lives such as mental health, financial literacy, and community service.
