Crime : 53-Year-Old Father of 7 Arrested For Sexually Exploiting Children In Niger

Police in Niger say they have succeeded in arresting a 53-year-old Father of seven, Abdullahi Imman also known as Abbah for alleged gross indecency and sexual exploitations of children at Tayi within the Minna metropolis.

A statement by the spokesman of the police, Superintendent Wasi’u Abiodun also confirmed that the suspect used his provision store as his hideout to commit the crime.

It was gathered that he uses sweets and biscuits among others to lure the children including boys and girls between six and eleven years.

Abiodun said the suspect was arrested following, a complaint received from the Tayi area of Minna, Government Residential Area Division concerning the issue.

The statement further explained that upon receipt of the complaint, the Police operatives attached to the Division arrested the man and during interrogation, he confessed to the crime.

According to the 53-year-old suspect, “he engaged in this act with the children whose ages range between six to eleven years comprising of a boy and eight girls through the use of his finger into their private parts”.

He further confessed to having been into this act since March 2024 adding that, he is married and has seven children, but he just found himself in this unfortunate act.

The statement added that the suspect has been transferred to State Criminal Investigations Department Minna for further investigation and diligent prosecution, while the children have been taken to hospital for a medical examination.
