Voting has commenced in many polling units of Akpabuyo State Constituency and Ogoja-Yala Federal Constituency by-election in Cross River State, with materials still on their way to some hard-to-reach communities.
The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, had assured eligible voters during the polls of adequate supply of election materlals, even as security has been beefed up in the affected constituencies.
AIT’s Rasheed Olanrewaju who is monitoring the exercise reports that following the tension earlier created by supporters of the two main political Parties, armed security operatives have been strategically positioned at both entries and exits of the three local Governments involved.
This will be the first by-election that would be conducted under Governor Ben Ayade’s watch since he defected to the All Progressives Congress APC in Cross River State.
