The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said it has put in place various measures to conduct a hitch-free senatorial bye-election in the North of Cross River State.
Speaking during an Inter-Agency Committee on Voter Education and Publicity meeting in Calabar, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Emmanuel Hart, said over 4,042 ad-hoc staff have been engaged and trained for the exercise.
Hart sued for cooperation among security agencies, the media and the civil society.
He assured that the transparent process will ensure that the will of the people emerged at the end of the exercise.
While assuring the electoral body of readiness for the bye election, the Cross River State Commissioner of Police Abdulkadir Jimoh, said all the 565 polling units will be given adequate security.
Five Local Government Areas with over four hundred and twenty registered voters will participate in the bye election slated for October 31,2020.
