All public primary and Secondary Schools in Cross River State have been directed to register their students and pupils with the National Examination Council, NECO, for both common entrance and Senior Secondary Certificate Examination Compulsorily.
Governor Ben Ayade made this known in Calabar when he received the registrar and Chief Executive Officer, CEO, of the National Examination Body, Prof. Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, and his management team.
Ayade who said the ten thousand annual registration of students in the state will move up to about sixty thousand yearly explained that the positive outcome of the previous performance of Cross River State Students who sat for the exams have been an encouragement to do more.

He also announced the provision of a permanent office for NECO to enable it to have a befitting outlook in Cross River State.
The Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of NECO, Prof. Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, said the new partnership between the Cross River State Government and the Examination Body will be productive.
Currently,94 percent of students in Cross River State who sat for the Senior School Certificate Examination had performance efficiency, with a minimum of 5 credits and above, a development Governor Ayade described as Encouraging.
