Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu, has appealed to the Federal Government to consider the dredging of the Calabar Port as a matter of urgent public Interest.
Governor Otu made the appeal when he received the management team of Calabar Port, led by its Manager, Festus Olumati.
He said transforming the port will attract investors as well as tourists and boost revenue generation.
The Governor told the management of the port to take advantage of the existing synergy between the state government, the Navy, and other security agencies to draw more traffic to the port’s existing facilities.

The manager of Calabar Port, Festus Olumati, informed the governor that his team has not relented in efforts aimed at making Calabar Port one of the best in the country.
Calabar Port has improved its berthing traffic from four to sixteen vessels monthly with a total cargo of 42 metric tonnes in the last one year .
