Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu has called on the Federal Government to accord priority to the welfare of healthcare professionals in the country.
During a meeting with a Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) delegation in Calabar, Governor Otu highlighted the adverse effects of Nigeria’s medical brain drain, which he attributed to the current poor welfare packages.

He underscored the vital contributions of medical practitioners to societal well-being, acknowledging the fierce competition within the global healthcare sector.
Nigerian Medical Association President, Doctor Uche Ojinmah, made a plea for improved attention to the welfare of doctors serving within the state civil service.
The executive and other members of the Nigerian Medical Association are in Calabar for their 2024 Annual General Conference.
