The Cross River State Government has procured some needed equipments for the permanent Isolation centre at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, UCTH in preparation for any event of Coronavirus outbreak in the State.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Betta Edu who again announced that there is no suspected or confirmed case of Coronavirus in the State said Cross River can now boast of a 24-hour World Health Organisation, WHO approved isolation centre in the state capital

With the equipment, Edu said the State’s preparedness to handle the Coronavirus pandemic is not in doubt, assuring that more equipment will be provided where necessary.
The isolation centre according to the Commissioner is a permanent one donated to UCTH in the event of the outbreak of any disease in the State.
Receiving the equipment on behalf of the Chief Medical Director of UCTH, the Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee, CMAC, Professor Odu Ngim said the isolation centre will run for 24 hours with support staff already deployed to the facility.
Some of the donated items are non-contact infrared thermometres, digital blood pressure equipment, Stethoscope, digital thermometers, safety boots, washing machines, PPEs, Mackintosh, examination beds, air conditioners among others.
