Cross River

Cross River State Government, is to introduce a new dress code and Close Circuit Television Cameras, to monitor Civil Servants’ compliance in the state, as part of the new year reform policy.

The Acting Head of service of Cross River State, Geraldine Akpet-Ekanem, stated this on Monday when she went to assess workers, on their first day in office, after the long holiday.

Geraldine who was visibly angry at the dressing style and low turnout of workers in some of the offices visited said that henceforth dress code will be introduced to all the civil servants in the State, while CCTV, will be used to monitor their activities.

She charged the state workforce, to be alive to their responsibilities, in order to ensure quick service delivery to the people of Cross River State.

Some of the workers who spoke with Ait.live, both at the State Secretariat and the Governor’s office in Calabar, attributed the long holiday to the low turnout, as those at the workshop expressed their readiness for the new year’s work challenge.

Before the covid-19 pandemic, Cross River State workers were used to thirty-two days as holidays, which enabled them to actively participate in the Calabar Carnival and festival activities, but could not take place in 2020 due to Coronavirus protocols.
