Cross river state government has called on citizens to voluntarily donate blood to save lives and avoid sudden death occasioned by lack of needed blood.
The state commissioner for health, Dr. Betta Edu made the call when she takes the awareness of safe blood donation to the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital Community.
The Commissioner said the need for screened life-saving blood becomes necessary due to an increase in sudden death as a result of low blood bank in the state, explaining that government cannot do it alone, hence the need for public awareness for blood donation.
