There was significant voter apathy in Saturday’s local government election in Cross River State although reports indicate the process was largely peaceful.
The elections, originally scheduled to commence at 8 a.m. faced delays and officially began around 10 a.m in some polling units, while in other areas, voting started much later.

Our correspondent, Inemesit Ifiok, reports that that despite the late start in Calabar metropolis, security was maintained, and there were no major incidents reported at most polling stations.
