The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), in Cross River State, has condemned the withdrawal of service of the thirty magistrates, reported to be in the employment of the state Civil service, but have not been paid in the last two years.
Chairman of NUJ in the state, Comrade Victor Udu, stated this in an interview with ait.live in Calabar.
Udu said that rather than asked the affected magistrates to withdraw their services, the government should have employed the use of dialogue to resolve the matter amicably.
In his reaction, the leader of the affected magistrates, Solomon Abuo, insisted that they are judicial officers employed inline with the civil service rules.
He, however, described their withdrawal of service as a tacit way of rendering them redundant by asking them to go and stay at home for an indefinite period.
