The Crisis rocking the apex Igbo Socio-Cultural Group,Ohanaze Ndigbo in Cross River State, may be far from being over, as the State High Court in Calabar has fixed February, 24 for the hearing of the matter before it.

The matter which came up before justice Bassey Ebuta, with charge N0: HC/82c/2022 was between the Inspector General Of Police IGP, respondent and Ugoji Nwabueze Esq, defendant.

In a motion on notice brought before the court, and made available to newsmen, counsel to defendant( Nwabueze), Prof. Jacob Dada Esq, stated that hearing of the matter could have amounted to abuse of court process.

Nwabueze, until now was the Vice president of Ohaneze Ndigbo in Cross River State and assumed the position of President General after the death of his predecessor inline with the group’s constitution.

Some aggrieved Leaders in the group who wanted the plum job had asked Nwabueze to step down, saying he was no longer suitable for the position of the president.

The faction took Nwabueze who is the Senior Special Assistant to the Cross River State Governor on Non Indigene Affairs (Igbo) to court In a bid to totally stop him and ensure he no longer presents and address himself as President of Ohaneze Ndigbo in the State.

You may recall that, Nwabueze (defendant) in the case was dragged to court by the Inspector General of Police, IGP, for parading himself and impersonating to be the President of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Cross River State, based on a petition written by a section of some Igbo leaders and allegedly sponsored by some members from a “faction” of the group.
