Cross River State Governor, Professor Ben Ayade says aggressive capacity will be given to sporting infrastructure in a bid to provide opportunities for young people who have interest in Sports in the state.
Speaking at the commissioning of the newly constructed Olympic size ten lane fifty by twenty metres swimming pool at the U.J Esuene Stadium in Càlabar, Ayade said more facilities and infrastructure will be put in place to actualize the dream of thousands of sports lovers in the state.
The Governor said the swimming pool will offer job opportunities to young graduates and entrepreneurs in Cross River.
The Cross River Commissioner for Sports Offu Aya, and Chairman of the State Sport Commission, Emmanuel Elom, said the Facilities will train more young citizens to be professional swimmers in the years ahead.
Governor Ayade had presented a cash gift of five hundred thousand naira to the best swimmer, Akpan John,who emerged first at 100 metre freestyle and 50metre backstroke.
