In a key development for Cross River State’s power infrastructure, the state government has delivered ten transformers to the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company, PHEDC.

The initiative aims at significantly enhancing electricity access across the state.

Governor Bassey Otu has reaffirmed his commitment to tackling power shortages, particularly in rural areas, aimed at improving the quality of life for residents and boosting local businesses.

Highlighting the critical role of reliable electricity in enhancing economic activities and reducing the hardships faced by citizens, Governor Otu said his focus will be more on the rural areas.

Addressing journalists during the ceremony, the State Commissioner for Power, Eka Williams, said the effort is part of a larger plan to extend reliable electricity to underserved regions, and also address longstanding deficiencies in the state’s power network.

Gabriel Modukpe, the Cross River Regional Manager of PHEDC, expressed appreciation for the state government’s intervention.

This development underscores the collective efforts of the state government and key stakeholders in addressing the critical issue of power shortage, and advancing socio-economic development in Cross River State.
