The Cross River State Governor, Professor Ben Ayade, has congratulated former Nigeria’s Finance Minister, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, on her confirmation as the Director-General of the World Trade Organisation, (WTO).
Ayade in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Christian Ita, described the new WTO DG as a woman of unassailable achievement and record breaker, who not only shattered a glass-ceiling, but has continually proved her mettle and brought honour to the country.

The Governor said that Cross River is proud of Ngozi, one of Nigeria’s best, who emerged the first African, first woman and the first black Director General of the WTO.
“As a top officer of the World Bank, Finance Minister, Foreign Minister and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Dr. OKonjo-Iweala had brilliantly distinguished herself to the admiration of her country men and women and the world at large “
The Governor then expressed optimism, that the state will also benefit immensely from her new role at the WTO.
