No fewer than seven hundred thousand children under the age of five have been targeted by the Cross River State government for its integrated measles vaccination campaign slated for the last week of October.
The Director General of Primary Health Care Development Agency, Janet Ekpenyong, said this in during a media briefing in Calabar
Ekpeyong advised mothers and caregivers to regard the vaccination of their children and wards as top priority, warning that an unvaccinated child was exposed to measles-related ailments such permanent blindness and deafness and even death
She said the recent 35 cases recorded in a refugee camp in Ogoja,populated by Cameroonian refugees. the integrated measles campaign has become all the more important and explained that her agency was collaborating with the federal government and other critical partners like the World Health Organisation WHO, the United Nation International Children Emergency Fund UNICEF.
The World Health Organization representative, Ibrahim Audu Salisu who also briefed journalists, highlighted the resolve of the global health body to continue to collaborate with the agency in health-related interventions and called on the media to help sensitize the citizens on the importance of child vaccinations
Navy hands over suspected oil thieves, vessels to EFCC in Rivers State

Two marine vessels, Platform and MV Caribbean Crest and a crew of 22 suspected oil thieves were have been handed over to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC for further investigation and possible prosecution by the Nigerian Navy.
The Commanding Officer of the Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base, Bonny, Lieutenant Commander MG Munza, told newsmen the vessel, MV Caribbean Crest and its crew members were arrested on the 15th of February, 2022 at the Bonny Fairway Buoy with an unspecified quantity of stolen petroleum products suspected to be diesel oil, while MT Platform was intercepted on the 8th of June, 2022 in the vicinity of the Bonny Anchorage for illegal dealing in petroleum products.
He said neither vessels hey have any authorization from appropriate authorities to ply Nigerian waters.
The arrested crew members were identified as Emberru Michael, Inengibo Ebiegberi, Audu Michael, Gaius Ajakaiye, Igbomgbo Edward, Ndubisi Collins, James Eyak, Ezebri Ayakpo, Okokon Joseph and Wali Michael.
Others are Adediran Ayo, Kelvin White Ohre, Martins-Biyi Shola, Ekundayo Ajayi, Olowu Olusegun, Etim Samson, Michael John, Kelechi Nwafor, Popoola Felix, Ishola Adetunji, Omachekeji Sunny and Onuh Solomon.
The vessels and crews were received on behalf of the EFCC by Deputy Superintendent of the Commission Arasah Shaka of the Port Harcourt Zonal Command, who acknowledged the Navy’s efforts at safeguarding the nation’s territorial waters and fighting maritime economic crimes.
