Elder statesman and Ijaw Leader, Chief Edwin Clark has called on the Federal Government to institute a judicial inquiry to investigate oil theft in the country.
He described Oil theft as criminal, adding that the investigation of the matter must be transparent.
Clark made the call on Tuesday in Abuja, while addressing a news conference at his Asokoro Residence.
Clark cited the report saying that about 200 hundred barrels of crude oil were being stolen every day and that it has been going on since 2014.

He explained that the illicit four kilometres pipeline through which crude oil was being siphoned, indicated that oil theft was being perpetuated by some groups in collaboration with some people in the oil industry.
The Ijaw leader added that the investigation must uncover all government officials, including top officials of the NNPCL and their collaborators.
