The 16days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence has kicked off in Umuahia, Abia State, south east Nigeria.
It is an annual event promoted by the United Nations and driven by the Civil Society Organizations all over the world to highlight the fight to end sexual and gender-based violence against women.
Flagging off the event in Umuahia, the wife of the governor, Nkechi Ikpeazu, observed that Nigerians do not often report gender-based violence as they occur.

Other speakers at the event, advocated for value reorientation, advising against inferiority complex while urging the youths to curtail what they put out on the social media.
Organizers say, in the next 16 days of activism which runs from the the 25th of November to the 10th of December, more awareness will be created to end violence against women.
