Ahead of the deadline for a switch to the re-designed N200, N500 and N1000 as accepted legal tender in Nigeria, the Central Bank of Nigeria CBN has announced its approval of the swapping of not more than ten thousand naira of the above listed currencies with new ones for Nigerians living in remote areas to help them meet up with the deadline.

The Director, Medical Services Department of the Apex Bank, Abdullahi Jibrin stated this when he led a team on a visit to the Emir of Bauchi in his palace to solicit the support of the traditional Institution in awareness creation for their subjects.

It is the fourth day of outing embarked upon by officials of Central Bank in Bauchi on a sensitization campaign regarding the Re-designed Currency.

The delegation had so far met with the leadership of traders and artisans, Religious leaders and traditional leaders across the state on the policy.

What keeps the traditional leaders so worried on this new policy of the CBN is short timing in sensitizing the members of the general public, especially, the rural dwellers, expressing fear on the possiblity of losing their money, with some demanding for more time.

While responding, on most of this questions raised, the representatives of the Central Bank Governor Abdullahi Jibrin announced at the palace of the Emir of Bauchi that, the deadline is still on course .

As the time fixed for old N200, N500, and N100 Naira note to seize being legal tender approaches, the question on the minds of some Nigerians is whether or not those living in remote communities will be able to meet the deadline.
