In a strategic move to drive home the message of collaboration and improved synergy for effective and efficient operations of the Nigeria Customs Service, the new Comptroller of the Eastern Marine Command, Comptroller Chika Dim, has embarked on familiarization tour of sister security agencies.
The Customs boss, who just resumed at the Eastern Marine Command of the Nigeria Customs Service made several courtesy visits to sister security agencies in a bid to cement ties and further strengthen existing collaborations between his command and relevant agencies.
In a press statement issued by the Customs Public Relations Officer, Eastern Marine Command, Port Harcourt, Emmanuel Tangwa said the courtesy visits were made to agencies such as the Federal Fire Service, the Nigerian Immigration Service, the Director of State Security Services, the Federal Road Safety Corps, the Nigeria Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA and the Nigerian Navy Ship NNS Pathfinder in the maritime domain.

The statement added that the Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi’s message of collaboration and deepening of synergy for effective and efficient operations was reiterated by Comptroller Chika DIM, who highlighted the need for joint patrols, intelligence sharing, and capacity building of personnel to enable them work in synergy and achieve common goals of promoting national security and protecting the nation’s borders.
He further emphasized the importance of inter-agency cooperation and the need to work together to combat illegal activities such as smuggling, illegal migration, and drugs trafficking.
According to the press statement, the visits were well received by the sister agencies, with promises of continued cooperation and support for the Nigeria Customs Service. The Customs boss also expressed readiness to work closely with the agencies and promote a seamless coordination of operations in the maritime domain.
The courtesy calls were seen as a positive step towards better working relationships between the Nigerian Customs Service and sister security agencies, as they endeavored to secure the nation’s borders and promote economic development.
