The Nigeria Customs Service has recorded a major breakthrough with the seizure of contraband goods and diverted containers with a combined duty-paid value of over seven hundred million naira, alongside the arrest and prosecution of several suspects.

Briefing journalists at the headquarters of the Kano–Jigawa Area Command in Kano, the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, said that while his administration remains committed to boosting the nation’s revenue profile, the security and well-being of Nigerians will never be compromised.

The briefing comes on the heels of the remarkable successes recorded by the Kano–Jigawa Area Command within the period under review, under the leadership of the Area Controller, Comptroller Dalhatu Abubakar.

The Comptroller-General Adewale Adeniyi itemized various hard drugs intercepted by the Service, describing them as major contributors to insecurity and other social vices if allowed to circulate freely within society.

Adewale also announced the seizure of several customs-bound containers carrying different categories of goods, with a duty-paid value exceeding seven hundred million naira, noting that such illegal activities undermine the nation’s revenue drive.

The Customs boss commended the dedication and professionalism of officers and men of the Kano–Jigawa Area Command, urging them to remain patriotic and vigilant in protecting Nigerians from the influx of harmful substances, while sustaining revenue generation through legitimate trade.
