A public interest law group, Sterling Centre for Law and Development, is again calling on the Federal Government to take action over the disappearance of a social media critic, Dadiyata Disappearance Resonates As Calls For Independent Probe Rise, also known as Dadiyata, about seven years ago
Dadiyata was reportedly taken by masked gunmen from his home in Barnawa, Kaduna State, on August 2, 2019.
Almost seven years later, his family and the public still do not know where he is.
The Sterling Centre for Law and Development says it has formally written to the Attorney-General of the Federation, asking for a fresh, independent investigation into his alleged abduction.
The latest appeal follows recent remarks by former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, during a live television interview where he reportedly suggested the possibility of state-linked involvement and mentioned an alleged confession by a police officer. However, no arrests or prosecutions have been announced.
The law centre says the case raises serious constitutional and human rights concerns, and is urging authorities to ensure transparency, cooperation among security agencies, and regular public updates.
So far, there has been no official response from the Office of the Attorney-General.
