The Katsina State Police Commissioner, Sanusi Buba, has told ait.live exclusively, that the deadly attack on the Tsauwa village, in Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina State, was indeed a revenge mission by the bandits.
According to him, the police collaboration with the members of the vigilante group had foiled the kidnap attempt by bandits on the National Population Census Enumerators sent to the village on the 2nd of July.
The Police Boss said that the result angered the bandits, who went to regroup to attack the village.
Buba also said that, contrary to several media reports, 18 persons were killed, while one person who sustained severe injury,is responding to treatment.
The Commissioner of Police further stated that, during his visit, the locals were scared to speak, for fear of unknown informants amongst them.
He, therefore, said that security has been beefed up in the village, as well as in other areas bordering the forest, to enable the farmers go back to their farmlands.
