At least 46 people have been reportedly killed in Umogidi village of Entekpa-Adoka district in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State, North-Central Nigeria by armed herdsmen. The same village was invaded by gunmen on Tuesday during which three people were killed.
Chairman of Otukpo Local Government Area, Bako Eje, whose son was killed in the latest attack, told AIT.live on telephone that the armed men surrounded the village again on Wednesday evening barely 24 hours after the first attack and opened gunfire on the residents.

Eje said so far 46 corpses have been recovered while many people are still missing. The Chairman said his son and other relatives were victims of the latest attack which occurred at about 5pm on Wednesday while mourners were burying the three persons killed in previous attack.
State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Sewuese Anene confirmed the unfortunate incident saying eight corpses have been recovered including that of a policeman.
She said that more police teams have been deployed to the area to forestall futher breakdown of law and order.
