Defence Chief visits troops fighting bandits in North-West Nigeria

Following the activation of the Nigerian Army Special Super Camp IV in Faskari, Katsina State, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Abayomi Olonisakin has charged the troops to flush out bandit in the area.

The Defence Chief who stated this during his operational visit to the camp also expressed satisfaction with the camp layout; pointing out that with the briefs received, peace and enhanced security will be restored soon in the affected areas.

General Olonisakin further noted that exercise Sahel Sanity which is a real time operation will transform into a full scale exercise aimed at tackling banditry in Katsina state, the Northwest and parts of the North Central regions.

He said the Armed Forces have in the past five years tackled insurgency, banditry and continued to develop different strategies, model and approaches to better position how to address Nigeria’s national security challenges.

The Defence Chief also assured the Army Chief of the Defence Headquarters support to provide much needed logistics and welfare to the men and officers of the Nigerian army to continue to ensure that peace and security are restored in the country.

Earlier In his address, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai informed the Defence Chief that tremendous successes have been recorded since the activation of the exercise and camp.

Buratai assured Nigerians that the exercise Sahel Sanity currently going on in the Northwest will bring about reasonable state of security in the North.
