The Minister of Defence, Muhammad Abubakar Badaru, says President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has conveyed gratitude to the military in Kebbi State, for their valour and steadfastness, in surmounting the menace of “Lakurawa” bandits in the state.
Badaru made this known while briefing journalists after a closed-door meeting in Birnin Kebbi.
He added that he was in Kebbi State with an expanded team of security experts, from the office of the National Security Adviser, to reappraise the situation holistically.
Badaru held closed-door consultations with the military command at the 1 Battalion, Nigerian Army, Dukku Barracks in Birnin Kebbi, in a prelude to meeting with Governor Nasir Idris at the Government House.

The minister said that President Tinubu has sent him with the message to thank the Kebbi State governor and troops for their impactful operations.
He said the security landscape has improved in Kebbi and Nigeria.
President Tinubu is determined to end insurgency and bandits’ activities.
He commended Kebbi Governor Nasir Idris for reversing the hitherto security challenges in some parts of the state to normalcy, which has enabled farmers to go back to farming unhindered, recording bumper harvests.
