President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to meet with the leadership of organised labour at the presidential villa on Thursday, July 11th, over delayed new minimum wage law
The President of the trade union Congress, Festus Osifo confirmed this to ait.live Abulu osemuaghu on Wednesday, July 10, via a text message.
This meeting is coming one month after the tripartite committee on National minimum wage submitted a report with two figures of N62,000 and N250,000 to the President from organised private sector, Government and organised labour respectively.

The executive Council of the federation had stepped down the request, calling for further consultation with organised private sector and governors on an acceptable minimum wage to all parties.
On Tuesday, July 9, rhe TUC President, Festus Osifor had confirmed to ait.live Abulu Osemuaghu that labour has been having conversations with officials of the presidency and maintains its initial figure of N250,000 as a living wage
In the last count, President of the Nigerian Senate, Godswill Akpabio says states have been given enough money, and there is no excuse not to pay an agreed new national minimum wage, but a report in the Guardian Newspaper of July 8, 2024 argues that states may sack 600,000 workers to pay the new wage.
