Gov. Okowa

Delta State Governor Senator Ifeanyi Okowa and Vice-Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, says everyone who believes and means well for Nigeria’s growth must be an Apostle of good health and quality education.

Governor Okowa who made this known at government house Asaba when he received members of the committee of Chief Medical Directors and Medical Directors of Federal Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria led by Prof Abubakar Auwal advocated for improved condition of service for health care professionals to make migration from the country in search of greener pastures less attractive.

Okowa said Federal and sub-national governments can checkmate brain drain in the medical profession by making available working facilities, drafting policy framework to retain its healthcare professionals and at the same time place high premium on the healthcare, education and welfare of the vulnerable in society.

Governor Okowa harped on the importance of security, job creation, human capital development and the implications of the continued ASUU strike

Earlier Leader of the team, Prof Auwal who said they are in Delta state for their meeting called on other sub-national governments in the country to toe the line of governor Okowa’s developmental policies and programmes

According to him, Governor Okowa led administration in collaboration with the Federal Medical Center Asaba, FMC, had significantly helped in reducing the burden of healthcare delivery services.
